Mars in Beehive cluster!!

Hello. The night sky never fails to amaze us. It always has spectacular scenes. The stars, constellations, planets, clusters, nebulae, galaxies, Sun and Moon are there. But apart from that, there are beautiful scenarios also. Around a month ago, we saw Venus occulted by the Moon and two crescents together. Then we saw Regulus star close to the Moon. On the dawn of 3 November, at around 2 am Jupiter will be occulted by the Moon as seen from South India. From rest of India, the Moon and Jupiter would look so close. 

One of such incident is being observed since last two days. Reddish planet Mars is just in the Beehive cluster. In cities, we cannot clearly observe this cluster just with our eyes. But with a binocular or a telescope, this beautiful sight could be seen in the dawn sky. For next 2-3 days also Mars will be close to Beehive cluster. Through a smartphone, this scene can be photographed even in cities.

On the dawn of 11th October, Mars was slightly above the cluster. There were clouds also. So this scene was not seen that clearly. But today, on 12th October, the sky was clear in the dawn at 4 am. Binocular revealed the red planet Mars entered in the middle of the Beehive cluster. Its movement in 24 hours was also clearly revealed. The reddish planet and some red stars in the cluster! By attaching my smartphone to the Binocular, I could capture its photograph. When we capture faint stars in the sky, we need to take several frames and stack them together through a software. I took 420+ frames of this scene and then stacked. Its integration gave this photo. Each photo captured the light for 2 seconds and so 420 photos totally captured light of around 14 minutes. This way, we can observe faint stars, clusters and nebulae also. Photos taken by me can be seen on my channel.

 

Season for sky watching has started. Even from cities, we can observe bright objects such as the Moon, planets, bright clusters like Pleiades, Orion nebula etc. You can contact me if such a sky watching programme is to be conducted at your place. पुष्य नक्षत्र तारकागुच्छ आणि मंगळ

 
नमस्कार. रात्रीचं आकाश कधीच निराश करत नाही. सतत तिथे विलोभनीय दृश्यं दिसत असतात. आकाशातले तारे, तारकासमूह, ग्रह, तारकागुच्छ, तेजोमेघ, आकाशगंगा आणि चंद्र- सूर्य असतातच. पण त्याव्यतिरिक्तसुद्धा वेगवेगळी सुंदर दृश्यं बघता येतात. काही दिवसांपूर्वी चंद्राने शुक्राचं पिधान केलं तेव्हा दोन कोरी एकमेकांजवळ दिसल्या. नंतर चंद्राला लागून मघा तारा दिसला. ३ नोव्हेंबरच्या पहाटे दोनच्या सुमारास दक्षिण भारतातून चंद्राने केलेलं गुरूचं पिधान बघता येईल. उर्वरित भारतातून चंद्र आणि गुरू अगदी जवळ दिसतील. 

अशीच एक घटना गेले दोन दिवस दिसते आहे. लालसर ग्रह मंगळ- पुष्य नक्षत्र तारकागुच्छ म्हणजे बीहाईव्ह क्लस्टरमध्ये आहे. डोळ्यांनी शहरामधून पुष्य नक्षत्राचा तारकागुच्छ सहजपणे दिसत नाही. पण बायनॅक्युलर किंवा दुर्बिणीतून हे सुंदर दृश्य पहाटेच्या आकाशात बघता आलं. पुढेही दोन- तीन दिवस मंगळ तारकागुच्छाच्या जवळ दिसेल. स्मार्टफोनच्या स्मदतीने शहरातूनसुद्धा ह्या दृश्याला फोटोमध्ये टिपता येऊ शकतं.

११ ऑक्टोबरच्या पहाटे मंगळ तारकागुच्छाच्या किंचित वर होता. त्या दिवशी ढगसुद्धा होते, त्यामुळे हे दृश्य तितकं स्पष्ट दिसलं नाही. आज म्हणजे १२ ऑक्टोबरच्या पहाटे चार नंतर आकाश निरभ्र होतं. बायनॅक्युलरमधून तांबूस मंगळ पुष्य नक्षत्र- बीहाईव्ह क्लस्टर म्हणजे मधाच्या पोळ्याच्या अगदी मध्यभागी आलेला दिसला. २४ तासांमध्ये त्याची हललेली स्थितीसुद्धा स्पष्ट दिसली. लालसर मंगळ आणि तारकागुच्छातले काही लाल तारे! बायनॅक्युलरला मोबाईल जोडून त्याद्वारे ह्या दृश्याचा फोटो घेता आला. आकाशातल्या अंधुक तार्‍यांचा फोटो घेताना एकत्र अनेक फोटो घेऊन ते सॉफ्टवेअरद्वारे एकत्र करावे लागतात (stacking). ह्या दृश्याचे असे ४२०+ फोटो घेऊन ते एकत्र केल्यावर हा फोटो मिळाला आहे. प्रत्येकी दोन सेकंदाचा एक फोटो आणि असे ४२० फोटो म्हणजे साधारण १४ मिनिटांचा प्रकाश ह्या फोटोमध्ये एकत्रित झाला आहे. अशा प्रकारे अनेक अंधुक तारे- तारकागुच्छ व तेजोमेघसुद्धा बघता येतात. माझे अशा प्रकारे घेतलेले फोटोसुद्धा माझ्या हँडलवर उपलब्ध आहेत.
