Experiment 44. Magical effect of triangular shape

This is a simple experiment. Take 8-10 coins from elders. Take two water glasses. Take craft paper or carton paper. Now put the glasses upside down. They should be near each other and balance the paper on them. It should be balanced properly. It should look like a small bridge. Now put some coins. The paper will still be balanced. When you add more weight, the paper will drop. It will not be able to bear the weight of those many coins. Now, take out the coins. Fold the paper in such a way that it will have four equal folds. After all folding is done, it will look like a thick strap. Now release the folds. Now do the same thing. Put it on the glasses. Now add coins. To your surprise, even when you add all the coins, the paper will not fall down. Why this happens? This happens due to effect of the triangular shape. When you fold the paper, it has many Z like folds and triangles are formed. With the triangle, the force is balanced in a better way. That’s why triangular shapes are used in bridges and many constructions. Even the pyramids have triangular shapes.

Activity 44. Read and enjoy together!

Many of you must not be fond of reading. Right? Then this is for you. With help from elders and your friends, get one book of stories. Sit with your friends. The more friends, the more interesting it will be. Decide one story. Now you will have to read it loud. Don’t worry, each one will only read one paragraph. You can alter your tone, change your pitch or can add flavour of comedy or horror into it. This way, you can make it much interesting. And also, as many children read together, everyone’s task is reduced. Do this and enjoy.


प्रयोग 44. त्रिकोणी आकाराचा जादुई परिणाम

हा सोपा प्रयोग आहे. मोठ्यांकडून 8-10 नाणी घ्या. दोन वाट्या घ्या. त्या उलट्या ठेवा. क्राफ्ट पेपर किंवा कडक कागद घ्या व तो त्यांच्यावर ठेवा. तो बरोबर तिथे राहिला पाहिजे. हा एक छोटा पूल बनवा. आता त्या कागदावर काही नाणी ठेवा. कागद तसाच राहील. आणखी काही नाणी ठेवल्यावर मात्र कागद पडेल, नाण्यांचं वजन कागदाला सहन होणार नाही. आता नाणी काढून घ्या. कागदाच्या अशा घड्या करा की तो चार समान भागांमध्ये दुमडला जाईल. त्याची एक जाड पट्टी बनेल. हे करून झाल्यानंतर कागद मोकळा करा. हाच प्रयोग परत करा. तो कागद वाट्यांवर ठेवा. परत नाणी ठेवा. ह्यावेळी तुम्ही सगळी नाणी टाकलीत तरी कागद पडणार नाही! असं होण्याचं कारण म्हणजे त्रिकोणी आकाराचा परिणाम. त्रिकोणी आकारामुळे बले संतुलित होतात व संतुलन जास्त टिकाऊ होतं. त्यामुळे पूल व अनेक बांधकामांमध्ये त्रिकोणी आकार वापरलेला असतो. अगदी पिरॅमिडसमध्येही त्रिकोणी आकार दिसतो.

गंमत 44. एकत्र मिळून वाचण्याचा आनंद घेऊया!

तुमच्यापैकी अनेकांना वाचायला आवडत नाही. बरोबर ना? मग ही गंमत तुमच्यासाठीच आहे. तुमचे मित्र व मोठ्यांच्या मदतीने गोष्टींचं पुस्तक मिळवा. सगळे मित्र- मैत्रिणी एकत्र बसा. जितके जास्त जण असतील, तितकी जास्त मजा येईल! एक गोष्ट ठरवा. तुम्हांला ती मोठ्याने वाचायची आहे. काळजी करू नका, प्रत्येक जण फक्त एक परिच्छेद (पॅरेग्राफ) वाचेल. वाचताना तुम्ही तुमचा आवाज बदलू शकता, स्वर कमी- जास्त करू शकता व भिती, विनोद, साहस अशी छटा त्यामध्ये जोडू शकता. हे केलं तर वाचताना खूप गंमत येईल. तसंच, जितके जास्त जण सोबत वाचतील, तितकं प्रत्येकाला कमी वाचावं लागेल. करा व एंजॉय करा!
