Experiment 11. How to extinguish the remaining coil?

Often we burn a good night coil or a similar coil for keeping mosquito away. Sometimes its small part remains in the morning and it goes on burning. How you extinguish it? Can you give four ways to extinguish it? 1. By keeping under basin drops 2. By striking it to a wall. 3. By placing it on the tile. 4. By blowing air. Observe, in first three ways, some part of the coil is prevented from getting oxygen due to touch of water, wall or tile and therefore that part cannot burn and it gets extinguished. In the fourth option, we give so much of Oxygen that it does not process it and so it gets extinguished.

Activity 11. Observe a campfire!

Do you know campfire? In winters, it is used to generate heat. It is also used for safety during a camp in wilderness. When you see such a campfire, observe placement of the firewood used for this. There should be proper space between the wood pieces. And for starting the fire, you need a very sharp wood (just like the sharp starting point of the coil)! So that it immediately catches fire. Observe it and understand it.

प्रयोग 11. कॉईलचा तुकडा कसा विझवायचा?

डासांचा त्रास होऊ नये म्हणून आपण अनेकदा गूड नाईटसारखी कॉईल रात्री पेटवतो. कधी कधी सकाळी त्याचा काही भाग उरलेला दिसतो व तो जळत असतो. तो कसा विझवायचा? त्याचे चार मार्ग आहेत. 1. तो तुकडा बेसिनच्या नळाखाली धरणे 2. तो भिंतीवर लावणे. 3. तो फरशीवर पाडणे. 4. जोराने फुंकर मारणे. पहिल्या तीन प्रकारांमध्ये आपण त्या तुकड्याच्या मोठ्या भागाला ऑक्सीजनच्या संपर्कात येण्यापासून तोडलं- पाणी, भिंत किंवा फरशी मध्ये आणून. त्यामुळे तो भाग जळू शकत नाही‌ व तुकडा विझतो. चौथ्या पर्यायामध्ये आपण त्याला इतका जास्त ऑक्सीजन दिला की, कॉईलच्या तुकड्याला तो वापरता आला नाही‌ व तो विझला.

गंमत 11. शेकोटीचं (कँपफायर) निरीक्षण!

तुम्हांला शेकोटी म्हणजे कँपफायर माहिती असेलच. हिवाळ्यामध्ये थंडी वाजू नये म्हणून शेकोटी पेटवतात. जंगलामध्ये तंबूत राहतानाही ते सुरक्षिततेसाठी वापरतात. जेव्हा तुम्ही अशी शेकोटी पाहाल, तेव्हा तिचे निरीक्षण करा. लहान गावांमध्ये पाणी गरम करण्यासाठी बंब पेटवतात, तिथेही हीच गोष्ट असते. त्यात लाकडं कशी ठेवतात? लाकडांमध्ये पुरेशी जागा ठेवावी लागते. आणि पहिली आग पेटवण्यासाठी एखादं टोकदार लाऊड लागतं (कॉईलच्या सुरूवातीच्या टोकदार भागासारखं)! त्यामुळे तिथे आग लगेचच पेटते. निरीक्षण करा व समजून घ्या.
